Six Year Warranty On Daikin Ductless Air Conditioner

We’re all consumers, and we all want the best protection we can get on new purchases.

It’s tough spending our hard earned dollars. Whether it’s something we have to replace, like a fridge, a washing machine or a TV or luxuries we want, like a hot tub or a sports car. When we do, we want to make sure that the decision we made was a good one and that we will not have to consider replacing that purchase anytime soon.

I have a personal example of a recent purchase that my wife and I made.

We needed to replace our washing machine. The top loader we had purchased many years ago finally died so we decided to go to one of those big box stores and get a “deal”.

We looked at everything available and based on some minor research online and talking with friends, we knew we wanted a front loading machine. Apparently they use less water and soap and have a lower overall operational cost.

Once we found the model we liked and within a price range we planned on, we said to the appliance clerk, “this is the one, please have it delivered.”

The conversation didn’t end there! The clerk then informed us that the manufacturers warranty was only a one year warranty and that we should consider an extended warranty by a third party for the low price of only $189.00. It was explained to us that it was a good idea as the new warranty would cover us for anything that could go wrong for the next 5 years beyond the manufacturers 1 year warranty. I almost walked at that point but my wife gently reminded me that all of my clothes needed to be washed and unless I wanted to spend 5 hours in a Laundromat, I should go ahead and have the machine delivered ASAP and purchase the extended warranty.

To add insult to injury, when the delivery guys showed up at my house to deliver the new machine, the senior of the two said, “Did you folks buy the extended warranty?” to which my wife responded, “Yes we did, why do you ask?” Our jaws nearly hit the floor when we got his response. “I asked only because we are picking more of these up then we are delivering because they are constantly failing.”

So far it seems to be doing a good job and my wife is happy with it but the whole experience was a real lesson to us. We now make a point of asking what the warranty is on the larger items we purchase and look for a strong manufactures warranty.

We get this question a lot around Daikin ductless air conditioners and heat pumps. Often, an installed system will have a limited factory warranty and then an extended warranty from the installing contractor.

The contractors who sell and install a Daikin air conditioner or heat pump do so because the manufacturer provides one of the best, if not the best, warranty in the industry.

Daikin is so confident in the quality and reliability of its products that it offers a 6 year warranty on the compressor, a 6 year warranty on all other parts and a 6 year labor warranty!

To date we have had so few problems with the systems installed I see why they are so confident in offering this unheard of warranty.

Too bad they don’t make washing machines!
